Overlook is a unique log cabin brought to Rivermont from a nearby plantation in
1960 and was restored in 1980. The original logs date from circa 1835.
This rustic log cabin is in a very private wooded location and has a trail
that leads down to the river.
The main cabin has a large living room with fireplace, wood stove, and
queen bedroom furnished with many antiques. The twin bedroom is separate
and there is a modern bathroom with shower.
The "Cookhouse Kitchen" is perched just above the river and has great
views of the mountains and the river. The kitchen is fully equipped and
also has a woodstove for chilly mornings. There is a covered screen porch
off of the kitchen overlooking the river which has a table for dining, rockers,
and even a spot for napping on the porch. Traditionally, the kitchen was
separate from the main cabin so the cabin would not be ruined if fire
broke out. There is a covered walkway to the kitchen.
There is a large very private yard with picnic table and campfire area.
